Sermon Summary
Matthew 18:15–20 invites us to hear Jesus’ familiar promise, “Where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them,” within its often-overlooked context of conflict and reconciliation. Through the story of a church disagreement that outlives the issue that caused it, the sermon explores how easily temporary disagreements can create lasting distance between people. Jesus does not promise communities without conflict. Instead, Jesus calls us toward honest conversation, faithful boundaries, dignity, reconciliation, and the courage to stop feeding conflicts that have already taken too much from us. Most importantly, Christ is not waiting for us after everything has been resolved. Christ is already present, right in the middle of it.
